My previous activation involved a fair bit of physical effort rushing back to the car before some rain so I hoped this one could be done from the vehicle and that proved to be the case.

Maroota Ridge CA consists of several parcels of land, the largest two bisected by Pacific Park Rd. I drove down that road hoping to find a clearing to one side where I could set up just within the bounds of the park. I found a good spot almost all the way to Pacific Park which is apparently a motorcycle and ski park. That became more obvious due to the constant sound of trail bikes during the course of the afternoon.

I used the wheel stand for the squid pole and oriented the G5RV east/west and ended up with 41 contacts in the log - my best activation yet. Most of them were locals but I also got Jess W6LEN in the log, a couple of Js and an Italian. It was nice to be able to sit in the comfort of the car rather than on a rock somewhere.
